When I was selling my pulleys a short belt needed to be used, Duralast Belt from Autozone, Part Number 710k6 6ok1805 CAN x 1,8 m.
Another thing to that has not been mentioned is an underdrive pulley will affect your power steering soon, it tightens your steering up, it's noticable but I rather enjoyed the new feel of the steering
I really want in but I dont get paid untill next fri :(
it does not have to be paid friday, but maybe a 2-3 week window
Awesome count me in!!!!! Are you gona send a paypal request for money to everyone or how do we go about sending it?
you would just send it to his email address on paypal
Great to have one more buyer timmytaxi!
Also, an update on the shipping stuff. I got an envelope the other night and it does appear that it will work for the pulley. So, that means shipping will be a very reasonable $5 within the US, international orders will have to be handled separately. This brings the total price of the pulley to $140 shipped. I've updated the first post with this info.
Thanks for letting us know that a belt will mostly like be needed Dan. I looked up the price on a belt that size from mcmaster.com and it runs just over $8. Though, it would be much quicker and easier to get it from your local autoparts store.
Cool so how much time do we have to send you the money?
I suppose you guys can send the money anytime now. I'll want payment from everyone before we can order the pulleys. At most I'll wait 1.5 weeks, or until November 5th. If you haven't paid up by then you aren't going to be getting a pulley (if you have extenuating circumstances, PM me and we can work something out). But, I'm hoping everyone chips in right away.
Payments can be sent via paypal to:

Will pulleys from lets say a Toyota or Honda 1.6 fit?
The ALTA Performance™ lightened crank pulley for the MINI Cooper achieves power and performance by reducing the rotating mass of the crank assembly. Made from 6061T6 aluminum and weighing in at .9 lbs, the ALTA pulleys™ are more then 6.2 lbs lighter then the stock crank pulley. That reduction is effectively the same as removing 100 pounds of weight from your vehicle. Choose one of the ALTA Performance™ overdrive crank pulleys and increase your boost levels at the same time. The 2%, 3% and 4% pulleys will artificially increase your supercharger size by 2%, 3% and 4% too! If you have a 15% pulley on your supercharger now, you can add the ALTA Performance™ 2% overdrive crank pulley and make your 15% pulley perform like a 17% pulley. An underdrive pulley for your alternator is highly recommended if you run an overdrive crank pulley so your electrical system doesn’t over charge. Exceeding 19% is not recommended. 19% will exceed the factory ECU's tuning capacity and require special tuning or engine damage will occur.
Craven Pulleys for the BMW Mini Cooper are lightened to cut rotating mass, improving engine efficiency and response. Pulleys are precision CNC machined to +/- 0.001" in order to maintain better-than-factory balancing and minimize excess noise. Stock size pulleys are the perfect compromise that allow you to use the existing serpentine belt from your car without under-powering your car's electronics.
Compare the 7lbs. weight of the stock Cooper S pulley or 3lbs. on the Cooper to the mere .875 lbs. of this lightened pulley! mini cooper has a 1.6 16 valve engine as the aveo.
I can pretty much guarantee they won't.
ok I'm getting a head of my self but. Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works Engine Package 03-08: eBay Motors (item 200534491754 end time Oct-29-10 09:05:54 PDT)
does it matter that the aveo has DOHC and that mini is a SOHC? and ill send my payment soon. Ill pm you when i send it
Everything matters, the fastener diameter, the bore diameter, key size, the outer diameter, how many rib belt it uses... So many things could be different.
No hurry on the payment. I'll update the first post to track who has and hasn't paid.
Wow. Pulleys are not interchangeable like wheels. Even this pulley only fits first gen aveos.
lol I just can't see spending a dime for something that will only give me 5-10 if that more horse power...
A 5hp increase in a vehicle with 100 hp is quite noticeable. But, your mods are your choice. :)
you dont want to spend a "dime" for what i bet is 4-5 hp.. but your next post you consider probably spending 5g on 103 hp.. thats not much sense.. $25 per 1 hp > $48 per hp and thats cheap for that swap..
i think you need to do some reading here, if your trying to beat your brothers car, you'll have a tough time competing with a car that is twice the money.
yeah but think of what I can do with it. HAY srry I'M an ass you guys enjoy adding the underdrive pulley no horse power will be gained it just give the engine less drag. If it were a 2.0 engine adding a underdrive pulley it would be equivalent to removing 100lbs. no more. no hp. But none the less a great find tell you what when you find somthing that will add 20-50 HP I'm in.
I could throw together a turbo kit, but that would cost $3k+. :)
i think you are missing the concept here. that concept is making the most of what you have.
a header, pulley, exhaust, and cai together probably would add up to about 20-25 hp.. Maybe even more because they would feed off one another, all bolt on parts. Have that, and add a set of cams, and pistons, you would be able to get into the 150-160hp range.
if you want bigger hp you either need a swap, or a different car, but the gearing in the aveo works well for what the aveo has to offer. So a little more hp would only make it that much more fun.
So a little more hp would only make it that much more fun. this is true. I love my AVEO not sure why but I do :)
Hopefully everyone thats on the list gets their money in on time so this can be one of the first successful group buys

Actually 4 now. 5 more to go!
BTW, if anyone else wants to get in on this there is still time. Just let me know.
Let's get this finshed up! I want to thank Daox for at least starting this effort.
On a side note, I tried to replace my accessary belt when I replaced the timing belt. I bought one from Advance and it was just a bit too small. Now I am willing to bet it will slide right one with this drive pulley.
