Metro MPG had the right idea.

Undertray - In the front, you can get some coroplast quite easily from an old "vote for pedro" sign and use that to skin the underside of the front of your car. I noticed my underhood temps would not drop at freeway speeds once I placed a small undertray on my car. The stability did improve though. Also, the rear can benefit from an undertray, I have yet to do mine though it's been on my 'List". Having another project car though means the Aveo only really gets maintenence items.

Modify the airbox - Take out the resonator and drill out the opening to 2.5" so it still pulls fresh air from fender.

Replace the muffler - too restrictive, I have a WRX muffler on mine which is easy to get as a freebie.

With my automatic I think the best mpg I have ever achieved was 33mpg, running super unleaded, a k & n air filter and ngk brk6eix laser point plugs.
Missing our beloved 1st gen Aveos everyday!
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver!!
04 Aveo (mine gone but never forgotten)
07 Aveo 5 (wifes car gone but never forgotten)
02 Suburban (Eats gas stations as snacks)
      12 Cruze Eco 6MT
      (46mpg daily? Holy crap!)
12 Sonic 2LT (Wifeys new wheels)

Chevoo-1/2 Chevy, 1/2 Daewoo. I mean like WTF?

Here is my site along with the Aveo Tag which should filter out my "Skittle".

I have some more images in my Picasa account.

As for the above comment about MPG. I haven't checked for a while, but under normal driving, mostly highway, Vegas elevation, up hill to get to work I would get 29MPG. I redline daily (explains my Seafoam results). There were a few weeks where the highway was under construction and therefore heavily patroled. I would go 70 instead of 80 and managed 33MPG. This goes to show how much Aero plays into it.

Driving from Vegas to LA, I average about 36MPG at a constant speed around 80.

Thanks. More for me or more for others? I can duplicate the front lower bar quite easily if you are interested. You could also do it yourself if you have the right tools. I have a blog post on it that lets you know how to do it. The cost is about $15 or so. I can make one and send it to you for $45 shipped if you like.

If you are asking if I'm making more, if I get it back out to a track event, I'll make a rear bar behind the seat and possibly triangulate it to the floor. I'm also considering just welding some fender braces and maybe lower corner braces in the floor pan.

I have a Subaru Impreza Wagon which I have been dragging ass on and would really like to get it going. With it running, I can then decide if I want to go forward with a 2.0 swap on the Aveo.

nice. Let me know how many batteries you plan on polluting landfills with.

haha NICE!!! I am also into BATTERY REGENERATION!!! Most old BATTS can be fixed with
the correct charging regimen! Old batteries have much more life than most folks think.
