      First Time Aveo Owner

Hi. I'm really glad I found this place. On the 9th I'm going to pick up my 2010 Aveo LS from the car lot. I'm a little nervous because I haven't driven a manual in about 10 years. Any pointers on that would be greatly appreciated. I'll be back later with more questions. I'll have a ton of them during the next month.

have the oil changed immediately and check to see if any work has been done on the water pump and the pulleys. Check milage and see if they will guarantee the timing belt and water pump and pulleys have been changed.

Is an oil change easy to do on these cars? Meaning is everything accessible to the average shade-tree mechanic?

I have heard that the pump, pullies and belt need to be changed out every 50,000 miles, is that true? The one I'm getting has 49 thousand and change.

What do you mean there's no turbo?

The 09+ US models (otherwise known as "second-gen") have a timing belt service interval of 100,000 miles. They are not known for failing early.

Additionally, the water pump on the second gen's is not driven by the timing belt any longer. The pump is now driven by the serpentine belt. If memory serves, the pulleys were also converted to metal as standard.

      Congrats on your new vehicle!
Maintenance on our cars is fairly easy, especially where it's all small engines in moderately sized engine bays!
Here's a post I found on changing your oil; it's very easy, probably only take 20 minutes tops!
