      Hello and help

      Hi All,

I just got a 2011 Chevy Aveo from a dealer because it was all I could afford. I need this car to last atleast another 2 years. Tires are good, 70k on the engine and it seems to run well. I am really concerned about all the bad press this car got and that I might have made a mistake geting it. I am asking for any help on what I should be looking for and replacing before it becomes too late. Any help is really apreciated

Seriously? Bad Press? there might be a bunch of people bitching about this car do to their lack of poor maintenance. My friend you have made a fine purchase in economically to own vehicle. I assure you I can afford a lot more than my Aveo, but I choose the Aveo with pride.

      Timing Belt
      Plastic Thermostat Housing
      Valve Cover Gasket

The Timing Belt Interval Change for my car(2006) is 60K. Does anybody here have the specific info for the 2011 Model?

The only other issue I had, was the stupid gasket seal around the valve cover leaking (they get hard) and then it starts to leak. The leak oil over the spark plugs. Yech! I replace mine twice.

I had a plastic Themostat housing cover and I replaced that on the side of the road with a friends help (he drove).

It's a great car. Like any car you should take care of it.

The 2009 and newer Aveos timing belt needs to be changed at 100,000 miles. My car also came with a metal thermostat housing. I bought the car used. Can't say if someone replaced it or it came from the factory that way.

Thanks for your advice. I've had the car less than two weeks and I need a #2 O2 sensor a trunk latch adjustment a new A/C compressor and a oil pan gaslit. The breaks squeak a bit but all the repairs the dealer is taking care of. I'm worried about the thermostat housing now that it will be getting warmer. Is there instructions on the forum on how to replace it?
