      Hello- New to the Forum

Bought my 142K 05 Aveo for $700 for my daughter to learn on. Replaced all the wheels and tires upgrading to 195 60 15. Remarkably the speedo is spot on when compared to my GPS app and Caddy CTS. However, the Airbag light is on, so I wont let her drive it. Replaced the Timing belt Water Pump, Idler and tensioner. These I got off Ebay in a kit for $68. Better quality than stock. What's more, the job is just cake on this car. Replaced the bad IC regulator in the alternator for $27.00, also Ebay instead of paying $180 at Autozone. Removed the TB assembly cleaned it and the IAC. Frankly I love the car! Reminds me of the 1989 Civic I had 25 years ago. Simple, great handling (with 195/60/15's) and down right nimble. My only complaint- Type T-IV tranny fluid and if I could only find why the Airbag light is on. Never in an accident, however the woman I bought it from did not drive the car in 18 months and the battery went dead. This is a very very ez car for the DIY'er to work on! Too bad it's not as respected as the Swift 1.6.

Sounds like an airbag sensor or something along those lines.

      Welcome to the forum btw!

Welcome to the forum 700! On our 06 LT it was just a matter of clearing the body control module (SIR module) and the light has been out since. If you have access to a tech 2 or OBD tool that will access the other modules you can reset it yourself. One note tho, you will want someone sitting in the passenger seat when you clear the BCM, as it needs to sense a person before it completes the self test, and the light then should go out and stay out. Don't be shy to post a few pics of your rig.

check and clean the airbag connections under the seat (disconnect battery etc first). those are known issues with tuning on the airbag light.

I'm still futzing with that Airbag light. My 05 has no sensors in the pass seat, I'm searching for "How to gain access to the clock spring" as my horn also never worked, and the schematic indicates that both the horn and Airbag tap power from the same point. I'm thinking that I might have a bad ground.
