Hello from western WI
Picked up a new '10 Aveo5 LS last Saturday. Only options are the provisions for AC and engine pan heater.
Plan on adding the rest of the AC components, then cruise and a factory CD player.
I just want to say that this site did help me to make my decision to purchase my Aveo. That and picking up a NEW car for just over '80's Yugo money helps too.

Welcome to the site. Its good to see another satisfied Aveo owner. :)

Congrats on your buy! Come to think about it you maybe right when adjusting for 80's dollars and get a way better car than a Yugo. BTW I saw one about 6 weeks ago. I had to slow down and "nod" the owner!
Don't go factory CD player but really consider something way cooler than that.
Dual XDMA6370 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
I recommend something like this reasonable priced receiver with USB and SD card slots. You can dump a ton of music on a SD card and keep all your favorite tunes handy. When I bought my aveo I had the crappy crappy AM/FM radio in it. I replaced with a Insignia player that plays SD, USB, Aux (other peoples MP3 players), and CDs. Even the CD player can play MP3 and a lot of other audio formats. I never use the CD player and keep all my audio in MP3 format and play from the SD card.
Remember this is only a suggestion, in case of a real command please keep tuned to this forum for breaking news and updates.

i like my factory cd add on, $75 shipped from ebay. plays mp3, factory fit and finish, and still have an aux input (which isnt as good as mp3 on the cd, it muffles the sound and you need to turn it up). It also has more power than the am/fm only radio, and makes the factory speakers sound better.
there is nothing wrong with your suggestion, but i don't like the aftermarket radios in a car that is smooth finished, and thats almost everything since the 90s.. i would update the speakers though.

Rabbit I can see what you are saying, but I think a proper dash kit and the right cd player looks perfectly fine in a car. With adjustable display colors available on many head units today, it is a lot more possible to have a factory installed look on a aftermarket unit. I have nothing against staying factory, but it's not as necessary for the proper look, not anymore.
To the OP, welcome to the forum. How west in Wisconsin are you, and how far south. I live in Dubuque, IA right across the river.

About 1/2 way between LaCrosse and Eau Claire.
Wife loves the wine at Marquette. Love the area along the river. Beautiful drive!

I spent a year in Cedar Rapids. I used to drive to Madison to go dancing there for west coast swing. I loved the drive going through Dubuque and down to the river. Very beautiful.

Sounds good.
Going with the factory CD player. Maybe I'll upgrade after the bumper to bumper warranty is up, but for now all factory parts.
Top Gear UK rocks, even though they were totally harsh on the Aveo. But what do they know about cars 'for the working man'. It's entertainment! Glad they are showing the full length versions now on BBC America.
