      Hello world!

      Hello everybody!

I'm new here although I've been visiting this forum for a few years to clarify some doubts or look for solutions

Like most of you (or all of you), I also own an Aveo, which was my first car and due to the sentimental value it has for me, I'm still keeping it here at home. It's a car that I really like, it's simple, compact, wich is great to use in the city and at the same time somehow fun to drive. As it is a car that is already 17 years old, it is entering the phase where it is necessary to repair some things to keep it looking and functioning like new and I think that this forum will be very useful for me

Very nice pkg! Looks factory fresh...color, condition, and those great looking wheels....are they from a Spark? As an AVEO club car, I know It will be well treated. Thanks for sharing...makes me want to wash mine.

You are in the right place and with the correct mind-set that, yours or any AVEO, is fun to drive, reliable, somewhat easy to maintain and parts are readily available altho, sadly, many AVEOs from my area (Missouri) have been crushed and shredded with many good usable parts still on board. Thank you for sharing!

Living in Europe, it becomes a bit more difficult to find parts as time goes by. GM has left the European market, and the few remaining Aveos are owned by people who, like me, want to take good care of their cars and end up, in a way, "competing" with me in the search for parts. The alternative is to look on eBay or even AliExpress (I've already ordered some very good quality parts from there).

But at the end of the day, it's a reliable car and easy to maintain, so the search for parts isn't something that feels like a nightmare.

Kudos for your reason to own, drive and maintain GM's once ubiquitous "World Car"! It breaks my heart and offends my sensibilities when I see a nearly complete U.S. AVEO feed to the crusher then sent to the shredder. Those usable parts are lost forever. Good luck keeping your AVEO on the road...regardless on what side you drive.

Welcome to the forum - I have a 2007, so thats around 17 years too.. today I just re-installed the drivers side door lock because it fell out a few years ago and I just left the hole and used the key fob. Logged in today to lookup the 'howto' and found it. This forum has somehow continued to exist, for such a funny car isn't it? Its a great car, and inexpensive to maintain and modify. The only reason why my first one died is because 'someone' put off replacing the third timing belt.. ahem.

I really like this car. And once it's easy to mantain or to work on it, it's a good "toy" to be entertained. I'm not a mechanic, but I like to work on cars so this is a good way to learn how to fix certain things. Low risk, low expenses.
