Howdy y'all.
Sup y'all, my fiancé had a 2007 Aveo5 that had a few maintenance issues, and a z71 Silverado. And I had a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. Well we were doing the Dave Ramsey plan and decided that we did not need 3 vehicles so the Veloster and the Silverado got traded in for a Soul.
Needless to say momma got the new soul and I have the Aveo. Yesterday I caught it up on the maintenance, and installed a timing belt, thermostat, water pump, idlers tensioner a serpentine belt, map sensor and ambient temperature sensor, plugs and wires. Now it runs like a champ and should be good to 175k.
Today I am picking up a battery then the last item is 4 tires and an alignment.

before you spend the money, does the battery need replaced? do you need new tires?
welcome to the site.

Yep the engine light was tossing map codes and one on the ambient temp. So I replaced the map and the temp as t was just a $5 sensor
The thermostat was stuck open and since I had the cooling system drained it was the perfect time to replace it.
Timing belt was due as I have 116k on the motor, the plugs were never changed, water pump and tensioner/idler were included in the kit.
serpentine was never changed.
tires are balled on the right side due to poor alignment, and the battery will not charge more then 12.15 volts on my charger. (One has one shot to start it or it will need a jump. (Oem delco battery)
Since I keep a booster pack I'm probably going to nurse the battery through for a couple weeks, however from what i see replacing it will resolve the airbag system light, since it came on the first time since I jumped it for her the first time.
however it is sure nice not having a car payment.

ok, sounds like you are using knowledge to your work. I see a lot of people (even some on here) that when they buy a used car just throw a bunch of unnecessary parts on it, and waste a lot of money

I appreciate the concern. I was a mechanic helper after I got out of the army, the I decided I was tired of sweating my ass off and got a nice network admin job.
It was hot as hell yesterday, so I would not have been wrenching if I didn't have to. Well I happened to be on vacation so I got to spend some time teaching my 3 yr old about engines.
That and I'm cheap, I don't want to spend any more money than I have to. Lol.
