      My '10 Aveo LT...

I've been lurking for a bit, then finally decided I may as well join up. Right now, I'm on the fence involving whether I want to turn this baby into one hell of a sleeper, or if I just want to go with another car, but I've always been impartial to sleepers. My main issue, I'd say, is lack of knowledge of the whole thing. As far as car knowledge goes, I'm brand new to it, since I spent most of my life learning computers, and will probably be going into cybersecurity after I get out of the military.

The only thing I've done, so far, is swapped out the air filter for a K&N one, but I plan on doing much, much more in the future, after I figure out where to start. If anyone would like to offer tips, I'd appreciate them a lot.

Edit: Oh yeah... I can add pictures, I guess, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what a completely stock one looks like. :P

Get another car if you want to go fast, or if you want to pour money into a swap, either way it costs money, and lots of it.

If you want a sleeper, look for an LSJ Cobalt, take the wing off, debadge, and ditch the SS wheels. If you want a cheap commuter, keep the Aveo.

....or spend your entire signing bonus trying the make the Aveo as fast as a stock Mazda 3.
Sorry GM, the Turbo Sonic was priced too close to the Focus ST. I gots me a Ford.

5 bolt cobalts are not sleepers..

Your solution, you already bought the car. You will likely spend/lose more money switching cars than modifying it. Pay someone to do the work will cost a lot as well. But price out the two options you want to go with and see where (performance) each option will put you. My fear is usually people who don't know enough to build a high hp car don't know how to drive them either. So in any case, take autocross courses, drag racing at the track, etc so you dont wrap whatever you choose around a tree.

I would definitely love to take autocross courses... I might just make this one look nice though, and get something that's more me.
