Thanks for the compliments! That picture was after an air show in Reading PA last June.
It's never broke down or failed to start. All the maintenance is pretty much up to date. I do it all myself. Timing belt was done at 100k, 170k and 250k. Original clutch, rear shoes and all components. I had to replace the water outlet/thermostat housing as the original was plastic and cracked. I routinely check things so I caught that one early. The upstream O2 sensor failed at 230k.
Replaced the tie rods, lower control arms (with ball joints) and struts with linkage and mounts at 200k. These cars can't hold alignment well... We both drive pretty much only highway.
It chews through valve cover gaskets! They seem to leak no matter how often they're replaced. I'm on my third.
My wife has an 06 with 170k on it - we bought it new also. Whatever happens to one invariably does on the other. Both cars are manual transmissions. Love them that way.
Mine has a clogged orifice valve in the A/C that is affecting performance and will need replacement in spring. Both have problems with the catalytic converter giving a MIL code occasionally. That's too much money for a part I can't justify for enough performance to make a difference for me. My instrument lights intermittently won't come on either. Can't figure that aside from a bad switch.
Maybe someone here has run into that one before?
