I have a question about the engine - I have found several 08 engines, I know several of you have installed 07 engines in your 04-05 Aveos, so you may be able to help me out - What is the L91 option? Is this something that would prevent me from using it in my 04? The VIN is the same as mine (8th digit is 6) - what is the difference in the engine that has other letters/ numbers? Is this maybe the difference that was in the 07 engine that was found in Doax's install (in quote bellow)?

I ended up capping the breather hole. It apparently used to go to a metal pipe that mounted on the block. The 07 block didn't have holes in place to mount it. I'm guessing it was a crankcase breather tube.

I figured I'd post here in addition to PMing with Matt.

I'm not aware of any L91 option. If I had to guess I'd say the 07 and 08 are very near identical if they aren't exactly the same. There are differences between the 04 engine I had and the 07 engine that I put into my car. The changes were minor and didn't require any real changes to make things work. All those changes should be outlined in my thread.

OK, I did a little research, this is what I found for the 2008, but I have not found anything for the 2004

      Note:
      Engine Code:
      L91: ENGINE,1.6L,MFI,DOHC 1.6-6(L91)
      L95: ENGINE GAS, 4 CYL, 1.4L, MFI, DOHC 1.4-7(L95)
LV8: ENGINE GAS, 4 CYL, 1.5L, MFI, SOHC, GMDAT 1.5-Y(LV

      Transmission Code:
      ML4: TRANSMISSION AUTO 4 SPD, THM 4L30-E, CONV CLUTCH 4-SPD AUTO TRANS(ML4)
      MLM: TRANSMISSION, MAN 5 SPD, D16 SW/R 5-SPD M/TRANS(MLM)
MLQ: TRANSMISSION, AUTO 4 SPD, AISIN, AW 80/81-40 4-SPD AUTO TRANS(MLQ)

      Model Code:
      1TD48: AVEO 4 DR HATCHBACK
      1TD69: AVEO 4 DR NOTCHBACK
1TJ48: AVEO LS 4 DR HATCHBACK
1TJ69: AVEO LS 4 DR NOTCHBACK
1TK48: AVEO LT 4 DR HATCHBACK
1TK69: AVEO LT 4 DR NOTCHBACK

There were more codes so I'll dig a little deeper!

Well, we are still trying to get something worked out on "Barnie" - However, I have purchased a 2004 Aveo that has 102K miles on it for $2650, the paint is faded, but she seems to run very nicely, I don't have pics yet, I am having my friend replace the timing beld and the valve cover gasket (oil leak through the current one), oil change and auto-trans flush - just to start her off right! I hope I get a few good years out of her! I still plan on getting the blue one, I will fix it for myself and "give" the yellow one to my oldest daughter. I will hope to have the title and everything squared away on Monday - I have it in my hands, just have to get these few items done to it and wait until next business day to be able to start driving her!

Well, We are still trying to get the title mess straight on the blue one, however, I came accross a yellow 2004 Aveo that has 102K miles that I picked up for $2650! I am pretty happy with it, we replaced the timing belt and a few other things it needed or we didn't know when the last time it was done and it is up and running great (so far)! I need the 2 rear head rests, e-brake boot (interior cloth/ fake leather) and the front passenger side cloth insert for the door panel. I am going to take a trip to the treasure yard Saturday to see what I can find! Anyway, here are some pictures!

Good juob Matt! I'd take the LT Aluminum rims off the blue one and put them on the yellow one. I always wanted those rims when I had my Aveo.
