Hi Aveo Forum members,
I recently purchased a 2009 Aveo 5 with a 5 speed manual transmission and 115,000 miles. I have a job that takes me on the road frequently and I end up in either very urban or very rural settings. I wanted a car that was easy to squeeze into the cities I end up in. The Aveo 5, being "short (length) but tall" was the only smaller car I could find that fit me well enough (I'm 6'6" tall in my bare feel) to not look like a clown car. There is some "patina" on the car as it appears to have had a vinyl wrap or some other surface treatment. It has the usual Detroit area parking patina on the bumpers....and the sides.
Issues that were present on the car when I bought it:
Check engine light was on. Code P0013 stored (Camshaft B Position; open or short in oil control valve circuit).
A/C not blowing cold. The compressor would engage and spin without any abnormal noise, just no cooling.
TMPS light on. There was a sensor in the glove box which appears to be original.
It was very slow, which I attributed to the cam phaser being AWOL.
I'll be posting some of the fixes as I go along.
