Newbie saying Hello
my name is Ray, and like many of you am brought here by a question I have regarding (my girlfriends) 2006 Aveo HB. I am excited to learn as much about them from y'all and eventually use my background knowledge to assist where I can. I attended Lincoln Tech in 1976 and have owned and worked on quite a few GM products including a '71 Nova, 70' Monte Carlo, '74 Pont Grand Prix, '94 Suburban 1500 4wd and a '57 Nomad. As you can see I am kind of new to the "Econo Cruiser" line and am specifically looking into poor MPG. My girlfriend was told to expect 35-40 MPG but we are more like in the mid to upper 20's. So far I have seen recommendations to change spark plugs since there was apparently an issue with the factory's robots being a little over zealous and cracking them during install. Anyways, Hello everyone!

yes blame it on the robots!
really though researching the cars performance yourself versus listening to the salesman is the bigger issue. Driving the car normally on 10% ethanol gas yields about 30 mpg, less in winter. You can achieve over 40 mpg in the summer with hypermile style driving. And would get another 1-2 mpg with summer blend plus another 1-2 mpg if you can buy 100% gas, as well as buying better gas (additives). I have two stations locally, sheetz and getgo, that when i use their fuel i lose 3-4 mpg in any car i drive.
