Original 06 Aveo Owner from Columbus

Hey everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. I bought my Aveo in spring 2006 with 12 miles. I opted for the SV model. Only option I got on the car was A/C. Today I have 167,000 miles on the car with no on road break downs EVER. It's always got me from point to point b as my daily driver. I average around 325-350 miles per tank (usually around 10.5 gallons).

For nearly 170,000 miles I've replaced a lot of general parts in my maintenance program:
3RD serpentine belt, 4th air filter, 4th set of tires, 3rd set rotors/pads, 2nd set of calipers/brake lines/hoses, 2nd set of wheels, 3rd timing belt/water pump, 3rd thermostat, 4th set of spark plugs, 2nd set of wires, 3rd valve cover gasket, 2nd head gasket/exhaust gaskets, 2nd set of vacuum lines, 2nd throttle body, 2nd battery, 2nd oil pump, 2nd oil pan and 2nd set of all new cooling system hoses. I only change my oil every 7500. I use synthetic

I also had the dreaded electrical shortages going on with the splice pack. Only my left side exterior lights worked around 130,000. Dash lights didn't work at 115,000. Took the splice pack out as it was fried black, and the mechanic grouped them back together nicely and restored all interior/exterior lights. Still, Aveo lights burn out on the regular. Don't know if it's an issue, but it seems every 25,000 miles a few lights go out.

Finally this week my rear axle bushings started to go out. I ordered the ones from the dude on ebay. Then in June we're replacing all the front/rear suspension parts (control arms, bearings, tie rods, ball joint, struts, mounts, springs). The front end has been rather crunchy lately and the ride is a lil spongy. Hoping after this I can get to 250,000. I have high hopes. I really dig the car.

Whoa Whoa Whoa Stop the Clock

Welcome to the site Ronnie. You're proof that proper maintenance can easily keep these cars going on just fine. Too bad more people don't pay attention to the level you do.

The aveo is a great car. If you pay attention and listen to your car it tells you when things need replaced. I feel a lot of car owners go by the "once I get to point B" motto. From past experience letting a minor problem linger can cause a much larger problem in the near future (especially on a low end car like the Aveo).

and as far as my replacement part list goes 2nd means 1st replacement after factory part failed.
