I wish we could get 50mpg city. :P

Well, he was right about that. But both Hammsaveo and One_Man_Jam said that they get higher city MPG than the EPA estimate of 25, which is why I ask how they define "city" driving. And are we talking manual or automatic?Originally Posted by MetroMPG

Anyways, I put in 39.5L of fuel and I had done 602KM's! Rounded up, that gives me 6.6L / 36MPG! That means I still had 5L of gas! My light had just come on also!
But, I drove like a grandma to come to this number. Never went past 100Km/h on the HWY and ran a huge while at 90K's on country roads... Hypermiled etc...

but i suffer in my milage counts as vtech sucks up a lot of gas when it kicks in YO
You're definitely getting a lot of mileage out of that smiley.
it just became the most used smiley on the internet.
35mpg can only be done in city driving if there are no or very little stops. Any time you press on the accelerator, you're using gas. There's no way around this. It takes the most fuel to get the car moving, and the least fuel to keep a constant speed.
the scan gauge seems to frequently register a MPG of 5 to 15mpg while accelerating (not excessively either) in the city. Whaddya know, as soon as a constant speed is held, the MPG spikes up. If you are going stop-and-go, yes it is impossible to get 35mpg.
buuut.. edmunds says the 04 hatch gets 32 highway 27 combined... well, I easily got 33mpg combined (US measurement) by taking it easy most of the time.
while on the highway the scangauge usually registers an MPG of around 35, when there's some wind, all windows rolled down and no other cars to block the wind in front of me. It easily goes a lot higher when there are other cars in front. The loss of MPG usually happens when you're forced to slow down and speed up again.
I think that if I was able to get 33mpg mixed, that is pretty good
At what speed, approx?Originally Posted by byron84
It's pretty steady at 35mpg while going 110kph with the windows rolled down all the way. As you go up slight inclines, you can see it decrease a bit and vice versa. When coasting, it spikes past 50mpg, but obviously this is usually only for a relatively short duration.Originally Posted by MetroMPG
