      Awesome MPG'S

The other week i drove to a county fair in mass. doing 55 the whole way and back. unfortunately on the way back i got stuck in 11 miles of stop and go traffic that took an hour to get through. anyway, with the car packed with people i got 42 mpg. cant complain at all about that.

Yeah, keeping the speed down and less stop/go really does wonders for mileage. Congrats!

Just out of curiosity, what town was the fair located and what town are you from?

There may be another reason for your good MPG despite the slowdown on the way back,

Having driven this route many, many times, I virtually always got better mileage on the return trip - for the simple reason that it is predominantly downhill in returning to sea level. If you were stuck in traffic on I-91 it had less impact on the return trip than it would have on the trip up.

Just drove from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA with me, wife, and three kids in pretty bulky car seats in my 08 Cobalt SS turbocharged, between 60 mph and 70mph zones on cruise control, just pulled up to the destination garage and the onboard GM computer shows average mpg of 32.4... Not too bad, eh? It's pretty quick when I want it to be too...

I'm thinking of getting a Cobalt ss for my next car. Would you recommend it?

Totally would. You could check out CobaltSS.netfor sale section. Just get 08+, they cine turbocharged and suspension is way better than the supercharged. Has more power, most come with LSD.

Yes, the Cobalt SS is awesome! The Cobalt SS Turbo was engineered to offer more than simply increased power. An all new FE5 Sport suspension was developed and tuned at Germany's famed Nurburgring racing circuit. This suspension includes specific stabilizer bar, special gas charged struts with unique spring rates & damper tuning. Consequently the Cobalt SS Turbo delivers a Corvette - like lateral grip of 0.90 g. The brake system is enhanced too with four wheel ABS disc system & Stabilitrak electronically controlled stability control system. I would go for it!
