Octane ratings are very different between US and Europe, and I'm sure south Africa would fall under European standards... 91 us octane is equal to 95 Ron octane.. 93 us octane is equal to 98 European octane.

I use shell 87 octane, paying $3.41/gallon, and I drove 100 miles and it brought me down to between 2/4 and 3/4, since yesterday..
I drive a little bit on the speedy side aswell.

Just a BTW for everyone on the thread, if you can find petrol/gas that has NO ethanol in the fuel (Chevron 94 Oct) this does effect the performance of the vehicle. Especially when accelerating up a hill under lots of load. The ethanol 'stretches" the fuel and its supposed to be only 10%, but we had a hose and fittings rep tell us that the tanker trucks go through hoses so quickly because the ethanol is a corrosive. That content is more like 25-30% ethanol in the fuel!

For what gas station? Ive only put shell gas n my cars sence day one and have never put anything elce in. Today I filled up with shell v power 93 gas and I can almost tell a difference but my car is idleing kinda low like below 1k rpm its usually right at 1 or slightly higher. .. dont know the mpg difference yet. Plus I herd the high octane eats fuel lines...

Lolwut. Octane most certainly does not eat fuel lines. As said above, ethanol does. I f'in hate ethanol. Although I am considering getting tuned for e85...

All toptier gas stations like Shell have extra detergents added in all their fuel to keep your engine running clean as they say. High octane fuels in our Aveo's is a waste of money and not needed but if it makes you feel like its giving you better performance then go ahead and use it.

id like to chip in here, i use shell 91 exclusively and when i did my testing where i ran each brand for 3 months to get a good average shell 91 with no ethanol netted me an extra 2 mpg over gas with ethanol.
