aveo has a 11 gallon tank you fool :P :P :P :P :P :P
my aveo's gas guzzling is due to my lead foot and the fact thast my car is normally way above 3000 rpm
im sure i could get well over 30 if i drove like a normal person

Well, if you were to walk, bicycle or take the bus your percentage gain in mileage would be at infinity.Originally Posted by genefitz

Oh, well. "Different strokes for different folks..."
My mom's Chevy Equinox gets TWICE.. TWICE the gas mileage then my Aveo...
Even before i put the 2.0 in my 1.6 would get me roughly 330-350 kms (205-218 miles) on a full tank of gas. No matter how i drove it, no matter how much i babied it. TERRIBLE gas mileage from day 1.
My 2.0 averages 270-320 kms on a full tank. Thats 16 miles per gallon people.. Some v8's get better gas mileage... My mom had an Optra prior to the Equinox and she told me it had terrible gas mileage compared to her SUV.
I laugh out loud when i drive by a gm lot with an Aveo that says 49 MPG in big fat letters on the windshield.. yeah right, dream on!

Everytime I calculated it out, my Camaro was only a few MPG's less than the Aveo. I hit the 30 MPG's range several times throughout the summer with the Camaro. I think the biggest problem with the Aveo is the gearing. If they added a 6th gear or changed the gearing around a bit, I don't have any doubts we'd be easily hitting the 40 MPG ratings with the Aveo's. I usually drive around 70 on the highway and I will be running around 3300 RPM, if they could get that down to about 2000 it'd save alot of gas.
Of course as an afterthought, theyre also adding that goddamn ethanol to gas now, so thats dragging fuel economy down a bit.
E-Teeecchhhhhhh!!!!!
most v8s are gears the 70mph is practically idling in 5th gear, but a v8 has to power to do that. driving style determines gas economy. if i had a v8 (i used to) i would still be in third or fourth gear at 70 mph.
Also remember the Aveo coefficient of drag is probably the worst of all cars on the market right now. .34 for the 04-08 hatch (04-06 sedan) and .32 for the 07+ sedan.
The Toyota Yaris 0.29 and Honda Civic 0.28.... That's a big difference.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
and they make no aero parts
the 350z has about million of them though =D>
Most of the aftermarket aero parts you can buy increase drag though. The exception is maybe some of the air dams.
Wouldn't lowering reduce drag?

2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS/TC - SOLD
Yup.*
* (Usually. Depends on the aero properties of the underbody. But as a rule of thumb for typical passenger cars, lowering helps. It's becoming a common tactic manufacturers are using on "eco" models of regular cars. EG. the upcoming Chevy Cruze "eco" has a lower ride height than the regular model.)
