I have went 320 miles on this tank, the gauge is down to the red line. No fuel light yet. I'm guessing it doesn't work? I guess I will fill up and see how much fuel it takes. My 2005 has an 11.9 gal tank, right?

The bulb blue in mine. I didnt notice because i cant see it till its dark but i just replaced all the bulbs with blue leds so its all good.
since you have done it, is it a bitch to get to?
Not really there are 2 screws to take the inner bezzel off 3 to take the top cover off. and you can get to them from there. They look like plugs that just un screw and the bulb sits in the plug.
My fuel gauge shows less than 1/4 tank when the scanner is showing fuel level is at 33 percent (in engine controller). I believe the light is based on the gauge in the cluster, and if it's off at all, it won't come on. I just make sure I fill up every 300 miles or so.
We all know our car's clusters are junk. I am going to have mine rebuilt after I finish buying tires. My odometer looks like it's in klingon half the time (VBG)
I have cluster disassembly pix, does anyone want a how-to?
Does a 2006 model have a low fuel light?
