I have went 320 miles on this tank, the gauge is down to the red line. No fuel light yet. I'm guessing it doesn't work? I guess I will fill up and see how much fuel it takes. My 2005 has an 11.9 gal tank, right?

The bulb blue in mine. I didnt notice because i cant see it till its dark but i just replaced all the bulbs with blue leds so its all good.
since you have done it, is it a bitch to get to?
Not really there are 2 screws to take the inner bezzel off 3 to take the top cover off. and you can get to them from there. They look like plugs that just un screw and the bulb sits in the plug.
the light does not come on untill you have about 5 litres left, not sure what that is in gallons.
My fuel gauge shows less than 1/4 tank when the scanner is showing fuel level is at 33 percent (in engine controller). I believe the light is based on the gauge in the cluster, and if it's off at all, it won't come on. I just make sure I fill up every 300 miles or so.
We all know our car's clusters are junk. I am going to have mine rebuilt after I finish buying tires. My odometer looks like it's in klingon half the time (VBG)
I have cluster disassembly pix, does anyone want a how-to?
Does a 2006 model have a low fuel light?
Still working on putting those pix together. Sorry it's taking so long :(
I know that mine would come on at about 300 miles. I always averaged dead on 30mpg in the highway from the very first mile until 157000 miles when I gave my car to my cousin. have you ever run your car that low?

Remove the two vertical screws.
Attachment 6862
note the tab that points towards the windshield... squeeze and pull towards you.
Attachment 6863
Two on the outside and two on top... don't take the last middle one out until after the top piece comes off.
Attachment 6864
pop the metal fastner out vertically... watch the windshield
Attachment 6865
Remove that last screw. wiggle gently and guide the cluster around. disconnect the wiring connector. Use a screwdriver gingerly and wiggle until separated. Don't use your thumb and pull hard, that's how windshields are broken.
If you're just doing the bulbs... there they are. you don't even have do pull the wiring off. Below is a little deeper disassembly if you need to go there:
Attachment 6866
Tiny screws... to go back together, turn them backwards until they seat, then tighten. That way you won't be cutting newer, weaker threads.
Attachment 6867
For the brave and bold: pull the needle off. Use a razor blade to separate the glue, lifting more than cutting. The needle stop peg should come off with the bezel skin, but be gentle so you don't break the retainer tabs on the peg. remove the two screws for the bezel.

towards the right is the burn mark from the bulb on the LCD panel. It's hard to see in this pic, but the LCD glass is cracking on the right side where the leads go into the panel. I suspect some of the foil-thin leads have been severed below the surface. I have yet to source this panel to try another. The display controller could also have bad drivers, and that's elsewhere on the board.

Cluster Power-On-Self-Test... I didn't actually fix anything this time. It took two more tries to align the needle to point to the correct speed. I have mad respect for those of you who put new skins on both sides, I can't imagine the patience for aligning the rest of the needles for fuel, temp, and RPM. I am probably going to invest in some more expert help than myself to get the LCD panel fixed-- that way I get a warranty too
I do not know about this model but it should have the low fuel light. The 2005 model has almost 12 gallon tank capacity. In new models they are increasing the capacity.
Mine isn't working either I suppose. I'm on E and still no light.
I have an 05 Aveo LS Hatchback and my manual says I have an 11.9 gallon tank. It also says that the fuel light come on until there is 1.3 gallons left. Lately my tank has been on the red line when I finally get it filled back up again but I have only managed to get 10.0-10.2 gallons at max. Which still leaves 1.9-1.7 gallons in the tank but nothing lower than the 1.3 gallons to turn on the low fuel light. I would guess that my tank has never gotten low enough to see it but I still don't like to take my chances when the needle is on E haha
having problem MikeC06, any clue guys? http://watchfree.me/15/w.png
Mine has been very dim from new. You can only see it when it's dark out. Is that common? Any fix for it?
So I have two 2006 Aveos, and still have not found this mystery light: WHERE is this low fuel light? I just changed all the bulbs in the cluster on my LS and I was not able to ID any bulb that would be the low fuel light. So I assume it is hidden inside the guage housing?
I used mostly the 194LL bulbs, and #37 bulbs for the smaller bulbs for indicators, high beam lamp, etc. Still have not found a bulb for the oddo, so if anyone knows the number please share. Have yet to find them documented anywhere, not even GM seems to know.
Low fuel light is between the tach and speedo, pretty much right in the middle.
So from what I can tell from the pictures there are 4 194 bulbs for the tach and spedo, and it looks like 6 more for the other instrument lights such as turn signals, brake, hi-beam and so forth... Just may do this very soon, since the dash lights are more dim than what I'm used to.
