Were you guys honestly rolling pennies to fill your cars? It now costs me $25 to fill my car as apposed to $45 when gas was "high". If people can't afford the extra $20 every two weeks or so, then maybe you can't really afford to own a car.
I can see if people own SUV's and trucks, it would be huge savings. But I don't own one so I don't really care. As long as it doesn't cost me $80 to fill my car, i'm not gonna go on strike or anything.
And I've never driven my car for mileage purposes. Right now, around town, I get about 250km to a tank.

It has nothing do to with affording a car. Your BS line above about $20 every two weeks, lets just use the next 10 years as an example:

10 years = 520 weeks. Divide that by 2 for every other week then multiply by $20 = $5200, or a $8500 TVM at 5%.

If you have piles of extra cash laying around i'll PM you my address...

Dude, are you outta your mind? 20 bucks every two weeks? I fill my tank at least twice a week, and it's now 15 bucks or less compared to 40 bucks..that 50 bucks a week or 200 a month..sheesh that is more than the car payment...now I wasn't rolling pennies, but that 200 a month came from somewhere.

Well then, my apologies for assuming everyone didn't rack up huge miles on their Aveo. I've owned mine for a year and 9 months and have 47,000km. I figured that was average but apparently not since you guys are running through 2 tanks a week.

      Re: Proven Mileage tips?

Well I have it stock running 08 WAVE 5spd hatch with 185/60/14" tires. My foot a little heavy side most of the time.
This is the best I have got out of it so far I drive @ ave speeds of 70-80 K/M try to shift most of the time under the 3000 RPM mark, to try get better K's the best is to shift @ 2000 RPM

REGULAR LITIERS $ PER LITIERS LITIERS $ DALLORS MILES/DRIVEN TOTAL MILES ON VEHICLE

      x02/AUG2008 41.266 $1.219 $50.30 k/m 525.9 k/m2253 Bottom of the RED to OVER FULL.

RED to OVER FULL and this means there was still a little over 4.-- liters in the tank. Tank holds 45 liters
But on the ave I do not drive the tank under 1/4. In the winter I try to keep the tank as full as I can. I drive 64 K/M a day round trip just to work + extras trips.

Here is a list of fill up - the free fill up from the dealer

Best to date 530.8 k/m burned 40.606 liters was dirving a little bit on the fast side starting to get better.
So I driven for 5years a 7.4 liters motor as my ever day driver try to keep the extra trips down to nill five day a week 64k round trip would be $120. dollars, + weekends and extra trips would cost more. I driven 1year with a 0.1 liter motor that cut gas bill.

Oh just let you know I was not doing 64k round trips when I bought the car to sept 1 2008 now working out there again slapping the K/M's on.
So you let me know how good this is . As said to big of the tire from what it was set for at factory, will make the motor work harder suck gas. When you add weight to the car you will use more fuel.

I have never had a tank under 26mpg and that was at 30 below here in MN. My pcv valve froze up and had to be replaced and computer reset. Car was in a ramp out side while I was working outside. damn cold day

      Re: Proven Mileage tips?

I'm at 7k and my last fill up was only 25 mpg. I track it religiously and have not gotten up to 30mpg yet. I know my car is new still, and it takes time but my previous vehicle was usually getting 33 mpg so its kinda a shock to the system when instead of 400 miles per tank, I get barely 300.
I've seen on ebay and stuff about the engine chips......any one have any luck with those or is it all just crap?

      Re: Proven Mileage tips?

      Its crap.

At 7k miles you're pretty much broken in.

Mileage is almost entirely about how you drive and under what environments you drive.
