      solved poor aveo fuel economy

Sorry to post this but i solved the aveo poor fuel economy today by trading it for a 2011 Fiesta
1.6 litre 6 spd auto epa 29/39 , edmonds has good history for this car regularly exceeding these
      numbers.

      Background
      owned a 2010 Aveo 5 LT 1.4 litre

Figures for 22 fill ups are as follows

      mpg city/hwy
      #1. 25.7 80 20
      #2. 24.3 80 20
      #3. 24.1 80 20
      ----- increased tire pressure to 38 # --------
      added amsol to engine
      #4. 31.1 10 90
      #5. 26.3 100 0
      #6. 28.2 50 50
      ------installed k&n air filter -------
      #7. 28.4 50 40
      #8. 26.6 80 20
      #9. 29.7 25 75
      10. 25.1 90 10
      11. 27.7 40 60
      12. 25.4 50 50
      13. 27.6 60 40
      14. 23.6 90 10
      15. 25.7 90 10
      16. 24.9 90 10
      17. 26.0 70 30
      18. 24.6 60 40
      19. 30.3 20 80
      20. 20.1 100 0
      21. 25.7 30 70
      22. 30.8 5 95

Now, this may not seem dismal until you consider the following:
it compares poorly within its class
when looking at city mpg i had a big problem. Although i live in a
rural area, when i did drive in the city my mpg dropped to low
20's. Heck people you can buy a pickup that will match city mpg
for my aveo. If i lived in an urban area i would have traded it
at the 3rd fill up, because my mileage would have been dismal.

Sorry, Yep because i like the aveo "better". For me the seats are more comfortable,
well placed armrest, killer stereo, good looks, behaves well on road and in
city, parks good and dosen't complain about much and is economically
priced. But, its time has come. its engine is poorly matched to a poor transmission
manual or auto. We will see what the Sonic will look and perform like. But, for
      me i'm done with chevy.

Test drove 2012 accent 6 speed manual 1.6 liter 15.5K varies.
rpm is just as high on this car as the aveo, epa mpg 30/40....
engine and transmission are very well matched. liked it
      no history on 2012 yet

Test drove 2012 chevy cruz eco six spd maual 1.6 liter 18.5K varies.
rpm much lower than aveo epa mpg 29/40/-52 liked it but no history
      on vehicle

2010-2011 Fiesta 1.6 liter man or auto
well documented with good history mpg 29+ --40+ good history
bought at 13.2K. don't like as well as Aveo but mpg is the
only driving force at this point and in this price range. Well documented
city EPA mpg exceeds 29 mpg versus my Aveo at low 20's So
"bought it". Engine rpm about 2250-2350 @60mph. Auto Transmission
has no "torque converter" it is a dual clutch setup.
Experts think the engine and trans. are well matched.

      enjoy
