I like my aveo because its easy to drive, has comfortable seats, good headlights, and easy to maneuver and park. It doesn't get best in class mpg at all but it gets good gas mileage for the price. When considering the cost/hassle of trading in for a new & slightly more fuel efficient compact car, vs a good running aveo you owns outright, I think most people will end up spending more on the ownership of the new car, fuel and car payments combined. Saving maybe $30 a month doesn't justify a car payment of $150 a month for 5 years. I just moved to an area that uses salt in the winter time. My plan is to drive the car as a commuter until it starts to rust then trade it in and see whats available at the time.
