Yours is a manual. I think part of it is that the slowest you drive is 75 MPH... try going around 60 and see if you notice any change... At least you don't have an automatic - their MPG is ever worse... :D

Speed is your enemy if you want high MPG on highway trips. The slower you go in top gear, the better.
Realize that the EPA highway MPG rating for our cars is determined (on a dyno) with a maximum speed of 60 mph, and an average of just 48.3. That's key if you want to meet or beat the rating.
yeah anything over 60 and your lose a few mpg's
i figure that cuz past 65 im running 3,500 rpms so yah i realize that, but i rarely go on the highway or freeway,so yah....
In city it's even worse... constant stop-and-go doesn't help. Like some guys on here, you could time your traffic lights so you coast up to them, rather than speed to them, just to completely stop and then accelerate again. Acceleration from dead stop is what kills your MPG in city. Idling in traffic doesn't help either - you get 0 MPG then...
Would be nice if the rpm's were below 3000 at 70 mph.......3000 for me is 65mph. I don't drive that fast anymore anyway....would be nice though
That's how it was for my CX-7... it was below 3000 RPM at 70 if I recall correctly, but it also had a 2.3T with a 6-speed automatic transmission... :DQuote:

That's because the automatic transmission is different. The guy I bought my car from had an 06 hatch manual (the one I bought) and an 06 hatch auto, and he said that when manual is around 3K, the auto is at 2.7K at the same speed. But the gas mileage was still worse in the automatic one...
i just wanted to point out that i just got 399.8 miles to a full tank of fuel today. i wanted to drive around the block just to break 400 but i didnt
