2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
looks a lot like the 2nd gen, which it seems like everyone thinks is ugly on that blog, the interior will be what people want though
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
Really? I think it looks quite a bit different.
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
Both designs look very nice. I just hope GM doesnt mess it up
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I'll go on record saying I really like the styling of the 2012 production hatchback. I spent HOURS looking at it while doing the Photoshop "unmasking" of the camoflaged car.
But the thing I like least about most new cars is the size of the schnozz on them.
I'm sure it's for increased crash & pedestrian safety, but the amount of bodywork ahead of the front wheels seems out of proportion, especially on a hatchback. The Honda CR-Z is another example of this (I understand why some people see CR-Z in some angles of the front of the next Aveo).
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I also just noticed they are switching to 5-lug wheels instead of 4-lug like previous gen aveos.

Well, if these are really the design images they submitted for patenting, I don't think they can really deviate much from them... And the bigger grill does look a little like the second gen (technically third gen, US never saw the second gen A.K.A Kalos/Barina/Aveo - T250 body style in other places), And it looks like the flow of the side windows remained the same... But otherwise very nice improvement IMO.
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
the sides and the large front grills seem like traits from the 2nd gen, the stcok rims are the same too lol
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
The side lines on the doors of first and second gen were identical... in this one they're totally changed... The grill - maybe, but the different headlights make up for that. 8)

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
if you buy one everyone is going to think its a newer lancer lol

Wow... it does have a lot of resemblance. The window lines and stuff.. and the headlights.

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I'm buying one when they come out!
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I'd still stick with the hatch... I don't know what it is about the hatch, but I've always preferred them over sedans. But so did the folks who made mazdaspeed3, I haven't seen that in a sedan version. ;) Same about guys who made the new WRX STI... only comes in hatch... If they do make an Aveo RS, do you think that will come in sedan version???

not sure thats a different platform (engine2?) and wasnt the vibe just a toyota matrix design or something?
but i think the size change is going to be because they will have a smaller car, and seem to no longer have a compact hatch, (versus the subcompact aveo).. cant really tell what gm is thinking,
i dont think gm would have a wise choice in dropping daewoo, they were one of their only profitable sectors during the bailout review. and if they were going to be unloaded like hummer, saab, pontiac i think we would have heard by now. They are just building copies of the daewoo produces cars state side so instead of americans paying tariffs and shipping across the pacific we can pay for higher wages and healthcare.. Also having the cars built here does increase jobs (not saying it doesnt) but it will show the build quality differences side by side with a daewoo built car at some point i hope... thats if they will stay that similar, the daewoo version will probably be lighter, and have more engine, interior choices, etc.. than what is offered in america.. like they already do, but now its separate plants as well.
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
Yeah - the Vibe was built alongside the Matrix in a GM-Toyota jointly owned plant in California. The 2 companies have since split up, and the plant was recently sold.
I think the next Aveo's going to be a bit smaller than the Vibe/Matrix anyway. They were made on the Corolla platform. The Cruze will be around the Corolla's size.

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
My only problem with it is how far away from the bumpers the wheels are. One of my favorite things about my Aveo is that the wheels are right in the corners of the car, and its easier to maneuver that way.

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I would trade my 08 sedan for a newer 2012 version. I like its looks. Subscribed-
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
^^^Matter of fact, I may try to reserve a new 2012 sedan. I want to see pricing first, gas mpg & what's up with the timing? I would love to see a chain on there, but won't hold my breath. I'll be in the market for a new car in the spring of 2011, so this may work out?
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
i dont think there will be a chain, but i think the belts will or are supposed to last for 100k miles at least
i wanted to get the hatch, the 1.4T is going to be sick, but its a little more money then i want to put out, i think i would do better with my turbo miata in the long run
its supposed to be over 40mpg hwy, 6 gears help out there, and the price for the base will be up to maybe 13,000 im guessing since the cobalt is gone
the aveo rs will be worth the extras though if they come out with it
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
yes, but as with all gms, you will never pay sticker. especially if it is built state side, those are the cars that get all the incentives.. $16k cobalt for $9999.. etc.

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
Next year will be very interesting for the small car, especially with the new elantra & focus which really raise the bar. I'm def in the market for a new car in the summer of 2011 when all these new cars debut:
http://www.greencarreports.com/blog/104 ... ybrid-fuss
Think I'm just gonna sit back, do some test drives, and will let the best car win my hard earned dollars. I'm secretly routing for the 2012 aveo sedan, but competition will be stiff. I did some research and the new focus should share the new fiesta's sealed transmission & 150k timing belt change interval. I hope chevy is paying attention. I won't buy anything that doesn't get a real world 40mph highway. It's also nice to see leather, nav, radar/backup camera's,etc... being offered as options.

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
the only car i would get rid of the aveo for will be a polo/lupo gti.. or gtd.

All good choices. Don't think we'll ever see the gtd, I always wanted a tdi for a dd, but as a member of a trade union I'm required to drive a american car to work(even if it's korean). I have a very long commute to and from work almost a 100 miles a day, so a reliable compact car is a must, and I'm not a hybrid guy. Being that I spend sometimes 4 hours a day driving it will be nice to have a little luxury in a affordable package. I like my 08 aveo sedan, but when I see all the new models I know I'll be trading in. Just keeping it real.

the polo might be american made..

no specs or price, i would think it would be a tad more expensive than the fit?
does that mean people wont consider it because its built in America?

Doubtful, vw will always have their followers.
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
But then again.. many people think that Aveo is American just because it has a bowtie on it. You might have the opposite problem with VW if you're required to drive an american car. What union requires that?
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
that will be a huge contradiction when someone buys it and then says they hate all domestic cars :P

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I'm very happy with my vw in the garage, she only likes to come out on the weekends. I spens most of my time in my daily driver (aveo) so that why I'm excited to see all these very nice options in the small car class for 2011/2012. Won't make up my mind yet, but it's a choice between the 2012 aveo & 2012 focus. Ford has come a long way. I love the quality of my wife's flex limited. I've owned 5 gm's so I'm partial, but that new focus is hot, you can see many cues from the euro focus rs/st. I hope the chevy team will offer the same ammenities & I will purchase one.
-
Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
i would pick the new gen aveo compared to the focus, which is a very nice car, i have always thought that ford made the better trucks and chevy made the better cars
guess it depends what you are looking for really, im sure the aveo will be cheaper and a bit more sportier, but the focus is a lot more classy so to speak, they are nice, wasnt it the motor trend car of the year?

Re: 2012 Aveo design patent images of next gen sedan & hatch
I think you should buy a lumina. It's built on the w body band is the best car ever.

No, your thinking of the ford fusion, the focus I speak of is the new focus borrowing heavy from the eu focus. It will go on sale around the same time that the aveo will:

the Lumina is dull to drive and 80% are powered by the anemic 3.1L 3100 V6. The only thing the second gen Lumina has in it's favor is that 5 * safety rating. The first gen Lumina has the Z34 to balance it out with fun :D
