Some interesting nuggets, courtesy of http://www.subcompactculture.com/2010/0 ... sales.html
- the aging Aveo (4,23 managed to out-sell the new Fiesta (3,349) which was in its first full month of sales
- Even Toyota sold fewer Yarises in July (3,069)
- only 3 of 13 subcompacts sold more than Aveo: Soul (8020), Versa (7725) and Fit (6471)
there are a lot of hamsters arounds nowadays
GM U.S.A. moved 4019 new Aveos out of the showroom in August, its 3rd best sales month of this year, and above the 2010 monthly average of ~3500.
I'm not sure if this even applies but as an Aveo owner, and granted I bought a base model for commuting purposes, I'm extremely happy with mine. Now at 115K I've put very little money into the car in its 6yrs of ownership. Sure I've replaced tires, brakes, and belts, both serpentine, and timing, and done my oil changes regularly. Just recently at 114K I had to do wheel bearings on the left side and a right side lower ball joint but the car has been wonderful. I paid $9K brand new for mine in July 2004. I often wonder if most of the bashing is done because those who are bashing are also beating on their cars. I'm at a point now where I drive the Aveo 95% of the time and the 02 Suburban, 85 Mercedes diesel sit parked unused. My Suburban sits so much that it only has 70K on the odometer. My 85 Mercedes is a 300SD Turbo-diesel and thats my fun car. That has 282K on it.
Missing our beloved 1st gen Aveos everyday!
Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver!!
04 Aveo (mine gone but never forgotten)
07 Aveo 5 (wifes car gone but never forgotten)
02 Suburban (Eats gas stations as snacks)
12 Cruze Eco 6MT (46mpg daily? Holy crap!)
12 Sonic 2LT (Wifeys new wheels)
Chevoo-1/2 Chevy, 1/2 Daewoo. I mean like WTF?
Aveo U.S. sales numbers for September were just posted - best month by far this year:
6552 - Sept ... well above this year's monthly average of 3921.
That's up 243% over last September - but last year's numbers were skewed by the end of the Cash for Aveos program - a sales drop hangover after the incentives went away.
Interesting: that's actually a tie for the 10th best month of sales since the car went on sale in late 2003, and it's more Aveos sold in one month than all Pontiac G3 sales combined.
What's going on? I don't know what the U.S. market is getting, but in September I saw a lot of ads for the Canadian Aveo with hefty factory discounts offered.
Holy hotcakes, Batman:
6038 Aveos sold in the U.S. last month, up 313% from a year ago.
(See post #1 for 2010 month-by-month figures.)
Healthy numbers for sure, but the percent figure is still exaggerated by the hangover from last year's Cash for Aveos program.
it must be my genius reasoning selling these aveos...
