Chevy Aveo annual U.S. sales '03-'09 (take a guess for 2009)

I found some sales figures from GM. Anyone want to take a guess how many new Aveos were sold in the States last year (2009)?

I'll post the answer later on.

Here are the numbers (US only)...

• 2009 sales: 44,739 (38,516 Aveos + 6,223 G3/Waves) ... yay recession = [/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2008 sales: 55,360 [/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2007 sales: 67,028[/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2006 sales: 58,244[/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2005 sales: 68,085[/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2004 sales: 56,642[/*:m8fq30n6]
• 2003 sales: 5,677 (Aveo went on sale in '03 as an '04 model)[/*:m8fq30n6]
• Total sales: 355,775[/*:m8fq30n6]

Some calcs...

• Average annual sales: 59,296 (counting end of 2003 + 2004 as one year)[/*:m8fq30n6]

I tried finding Canadian figures, but the ones I found weren't broken down by model like the US ones are. They just talk about percentages (sales were up X% over last year, blah blah).

EDIT: found some Canadian figures, for a couple of years anyway...

• 2006 sales: 18,334 (10,315 Aveos + 8,019 Waves ... no mention of Swift+)

That puts the US/Canadian car buying pattern into focus. If sales of the car were equal on a per capita basis in 2006, Canadians would have bought about 10% as many Aveos as Americans do, or about 5,800. But they bought more than 3x that number.

Hahaha it's a mix of both. If you consider that the Canadian population is 10x less than that of the USA... means about only 36 000 units were sold in Canada... But I don't think that's representative. Also the Aveo is sold pretty much everywhere World Wide... which means GM Daewoo has to be turning a lot of these shoe boxes everyday.

You're right - it's not representative. I found 2 years' worth of Canadian Aveo/Wave sales stats and updated post #2.

It shows that per capita, Canadians buy about 3 times more Aveos/Waves/G3s than Americans.
