This is very unfortunate, but our economy is so broken. I don't blame them.

Chevrolet Aveo 1.6 auto LS Sedan 2009 - Right hand side drivers - SOUTH AFRICA...
I read that as well. Not just South Africa, but also India.

Plus they withdrew from Venezuela recently (basket case political/economic climate) and Russia a few years ago.
I'm not sure it'll affect your resale value too much.
I've owned a couple of "orphan" brands, and when they're that age they've already done the worst of their depreciation.
I'm finding the current prices for Aveos to be quite variable, there's not much consistency between mileage/age and trim as you look at different dealerships (I had a quick check of current prices around the Western Cape on the day the news of GM leaving broke). I saw a 2012 1.6LS with 45K km on the clock, same as my car, going for R115k, which is more than I bought mine when it had 23K km. The other options were also priced strangely, they don't seem to have "settled" in value but generally hover around R100k.
I found today the end of the Barina/Aveo in Aus: https://www.aveoforum.com/forum/f80/...stralia-23445/
