From another website (bolding mine)---
*********************************
"In the GM recall, overheating can occur in approximately 218,000 Aveo models equipped with daytime running lights. The DRL module in the center console may melt and cause a vehicle fire, according to recall information filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. GM has not yet found a solution to the problem, but while owners wait, they can contact GM customer service at (800) 222-1020.

Guess we don't have to rush off to a dealer yet--- they don't know how to fix it.
rip out the module IS the best idea, If I drive with my lights on, not the DRL, am I safe???
Hmm, wonder if this will apply to my '09 model that was manufactured in 2008.
the 09 model with the ecotec has an entirely different wiring harness.
the drl disable is a good solution.
Good thing I planned to disable mine anyway for my new headlights.
I've got an '05 SL... hope I'm ok... I don't think it has DRL, though I do manually run my lights on in the day.... I R CONFOOSED.
