New spy pics show next gen 2012 Aveo without cladding camo
This is cool: first images of the 2012 Aveo hatchback, minus the bulky cladding that was slapped on the car to disguise it during its run on the Nurbugring.
There are still camo decals on the body, but these pics are the clearest views yet of the sheetmetal differences/similarities between the production car and the Aveo RS concept.
The article also offers a new drivetrain tidbit:
Quote:
Powertrains will include both naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions of GM’s new 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine.
That's the first I've read about the n.a. engine being offered. Unfortunately, the article doesn't say what market(s) that information applies to.
Can anyone see if those are US manufacturer's plates on the back? (I'm just wondering if these were shot in the US, Europe or Asia.)

Yeah, that looks like a Michigan plate.

They moved the antenna to the back of the roof...
Re: New spy pics show 2011 Aveo without cladding disguise
Hmm...
How similar are the lines on the back?
Would that wing work with the first gen cars?
Might hold off if there is a chance.

I know the lines are pretty much identical between 04-08 and 09-10... And for whatever reason 09 spoilers were way cheaper when I bought mine... Even though it's the same thing. :? So if it works with the first gen - it would work with second gen aveos too. Looks like it could be a little different though - the rear window looks a little shorter, it doesn't go all the way down to the tails.

If they actually came out with a 1.4T that would be a cool option.

It is a Michigan plate, seems most new prototype test cars have Michigan plates. lol Hmmmm, Detroit? Yeah, the company I work for got one of the new 2011 Ford F350 SuperDuty's last year with the new Ford Diesel motor that wasn't even out yet...I guess the idea was while we were filming Ice Road Truckers, the camera crew would take footage of us driving this prototype truck to Prudhoe Bay for future Ford commercials...we ended up hitting a moose with it. Haha, anyways it had Michigan plates. lol

seeing an f350 hitting a moose would be a great ford commercial.
