Poor little Pontiac...

(FYI, see Aveo sales stats...)

Its first month of sales in the US (Canada had the Wave / G3 from the 2004 model year) was February 2009 (80 sold). The company officially announced the demise of the Pontiac brand just 2 months later, on April 27th.

GM's own sales stats show a total of 6233 G3's sold between Feb 2009 and Jan. 2010, the last month they break down Pontiac sales by individual model:

Code:
Feb-09 80
Mar-09 141
Apr-09 197
May-09 282
Jun-09 515
Jul-09 1100
Aug-09 2563
Sep-09 312
Oct-09 227
Nov-09 173
Dec-09 633
Jan-10 10

Total 6233
Not suprisingly, the two best months for the G3 coincided with the "Cash for Aveos" (see earlier post) ... I mean Cash for Clunkers... program, when 1100 (Jul) + 2563 (Aug) of these puppies rolled out the door.

So if you've got one, hang on to this future collectible! Only ~6233 sold in the U.S., compared to over 370,000 Aveos since its launch in 2003 as a 2004 model.

Subcompactculture.com has a short story on the G3's short history ( http://www.subcompactculture.com/2009/0 ... ac-g3.html ), and Jalopnik figures it's "One of Seven Cars that Killed Pontiac" ( http://jalopnik.com/5231336/seven-cars- ... ed-pontiac ).
