04 Aveo base manual trans cranks won't start

I just replaced my engine following daox's thread. Supposedly the engine I bought was an 06-09, but it came with a throttle cable intake manifold. It was literally plug and play or so I thought. I got the engine and it just cranks but won't start. I have the dreaded P2610 code. I don't get any spark from any spark plugs. Instead the coil pack gets hot to the touch. Even the ECM gets warm. I tested the coil pack connector. Instead of having a ground, 12v, and a 5v wire. I have a constant 12v, 11v, and ground wire. I'm lost as we traced the wire harness several times and tested the grounds. This is leading us to believe the ECM is bad. Am I on the right track or is something I missed?

Just a guess, but replace the cam position sensor with the one from your old engine.
also, make sure you plug in your TPS.

I give that a try. The TPS is hooked up as far as I know. Usually on the equipment I work on the TPS is on the pedal. However, I imagine the TPS is on the intake manifold. I'll do a Google search 😉.

It plugs in the back by the TB. Harness is in back too.

I replaced the CPS with the old one and ensured the TPS is hooked up. I still have the same results. What's the probability that it is the ECM versus something else?

At this point, your guess is as good as mine. I’ve read the threads on engine replacements that have newer motors in older aveos, and the only common thread I see is computer work. That’s out of my wheelhouse.
good luck, and let us know what you find.

I may swap the knock sensor tomorrow. Maybe the throttle body too. In the event they are wired different. Even though the wire harness fits, maybe the component itself sends and recieves information differently than my old ones.

I swapped out the sensors, put a used pcm in and it still refuses to start. She'll crank all day but no spark. From the connector that plugs into the coil pack I have one ground one solid 11volts even while cranking the fine over and one solid 12volts

I did a bit more reading on it. Can you use the old crank sensor and reluctor?
other than that see if the dealer can do that crank learn with the techII.

Yes, I swapped out and put in the my old throttle body, crank sensor, cam shaft sensor, knock sensor, and coil pack. I really don't want to take it the dealership, but it looks like that's what it has come to.
