05 Aveo coil pack- low resistance- can't start.

      Hello Forum.
Here's my problem. I was leaving for work, all was well.
I hadn't left the car park when after one little engine skip,
the car stopped dead. I took out the coil pack, checked it with
my multi-meter, and the all the readings were low. My question is,
at what point can you say the coil pack is no good? I have no spark
and had voltage going to the coil.

Thanks in advance for any help given on this issue.

If your timing belt broke, the coil won’t receive the signal for spark. Pull the top cam cover off and see if the belt is still good and both cams turn, and are still aligned correctly.

As far as the coil goes, search the site, you can probably find the specs for the coil.

I did both already. I did find info on the coil too. I did not however find what exactly would be considered a bad reading on the coil. they were about half of what a new one would be. I am going to test the crank position sensor next. I wanted to get some input from the forum (someone who had the same issue) before buying unneeded parts. It seems like the coil or crank sensor is the issue. Thanks for responding.

FYI this seems to be the last active Aveo site, and has few active members, it may take a few days or so for an active member with knowledge to reply.
That said, I’ve received good info here lately.

I agree. I am glad to have found it, though. I will try to be active here. This car has been a hand full at times. I will definitely have plenty of info to contribute. I do all my own auto maintenance, always have.

Thanks again for your input, cheers.

Just thought I should put this one to rest. I was waiting for parts to come in. I didn't think it was the parts I ordered, I didn't care because it is good to have parts on hand. I took the battery out to use with another car, which reset the check engine. I unplugged the crankshaft position sensor and plugged it back in, and it started right up. I had a feeling it would start, just didn't think I could be that lucky.

      Good update Joniko !

      Always good to be lucky
Will try and be a little more active, have been away awhile.

If the problem returns now you know to try / check CMP connector or ECM reset to see which resolves the issue.

      Cheers
