Exclamation 09 Aveo - Just Purchased, Has Issues

      Hello Everyone,

Glad to be part of the community here!

So here is my problem, I purchased the 09 Aveo 5 (Hatch) and know it's an "economy car". Since purchasing, I have the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on it. I bought it with 50,000mi on it and now has 60,000mi.

A couple issues have occurred. The A/C compressor has already blown, and has been replaced (still think it wasn't done properly). Additionally, the engine light goes on and off. One of the cylinders seems to be misfiring because it's quite noticeable on a 4 cyl. Not only that, the hold light has flashed while driving and makes the car act up.

      I've had codes:
      - Bank 1 Lean
      - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage
      - Misfire (Whichever Cylinder)

Also I heard about recalls for this model?

Hopefully I can contribute at some point to help someone else out!

      Thank you!

That sounds like a bad o2 sensor. Probably the upstream sensor (always seems to be the upstream that goes out) and it's an easy fix.

Could you post the exact code numbers? Without that, we can't be sure.

well, there are only 2 O2 Sensor Low Voltage Codes: a P0131 which is for the Upstream Sensor, and a P0137, which is for the Downstream Sensor; although I bet the Lean Code is P2270; which usually shows up along with the O2 Low Voltage Code. and with the Flashing Hold/MIL lamps, I bet this car hasn't had Recall 11290C done. although I had my Downstream Sensor replaced 2 Months ago (to the tune of an EYE WATERING Half a Grand!) and the codes I had were the P0137, and the P2270.

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. Working my a** off to pay the bills..

      Anyway the codes are:
      P0131 - O2 Low Voltage
      P0171 - Bank 1 Lean
      P1133 - O2 Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1

That's all the codes currently on there.

PLUS! Just recently, pulling onto the highway.. The Hold light was blinking, stayed in 2nd gear... DAMN near got ran over by an Semi!

I appreciate you guys, hope to contribute soon as well!

Replace your upstream O2 Sensor. Here's a link to the part on an OEM parts site. They can be a bit pricey but it's cheaper than a dealership. Easy enough to replace too,

      Upstream O2 Sensor

Thanks EAD15! Will work on that, the car is still under warranty so I'm going to take the recall info and the codes over to them.
The dealer of course doesn't want to do *anything*, gotta love that.
