2005 Aveo Overheating lately HELP!!!

Hi guys this is my first post but I really need help. A few weeks ago I noticed that there was a leak on my driveway and when I stopped at a stoplight the oil light started flashing, but only when I was stopped. I thought the leak was oil because of the flashing oil light so I called my mechanic and scheduled an appointment to fix it, But the day before the appointment I was driving and I noticed the A/C getting warmer so I looked at the heat dial and it was up to about the 3/4 mark. I checked the coolant and noticed that the tank was empty so I realized that the leak must have been from the coolant. I got the leak fixed but if I don't have the hot air always on the heat dial starts rising, and also the oil light keeps flashing when i'm stopped. My friend said that she had the same issue and that it ended up being an issue with the head gasket. I really would be grateful if you guys could try to help me out!

Take it back to the shop that did this work. Really not a good idea to drive (anywhere) with an oil light on.
