2005 Chev Aveo Cold Start problems – everyday

2005 Chev Aveo Cold Start problems – everyday.

Good Day, my wife has a 2005 Chev Aveo 1.5 which is giving us endless problems the last month or so. The car simply refuses to start in the mornings. You know when you get stuck with out petrol, that cranking and cranking but no start, this is exactly how I can describe it, once the car heats up “from the weather” it will start.

I have changed oil, oil Filter, spark plugs, petrol filter, I have cleaned the idle control valve, I cleaned the Throttle position sensor, I replaced the Coolant temperature sensor. The battery is 100%, the petrol pump is gushing petrol when I switch the ignition on. When I losen the airflow duct and apply some quick start the engine starts and idle until the quick start is finished and then the motor dies again.

      Any advice will be appreciated,

      Cheers
      Ess

      Have you checked the injectors?

Well, unless the starting fluid working was a fluke, you proved that the issue is fuel-related, which immediately reduces it to just a few things. One of them could be that 'gushing' is actually not enough pressure, so a fuel pressure test might ultimately be required. Before doing that, I'd recommend checking to verify that the injectors are actually delivering fuel while it's cranking.

Lol, i stepped right into that one, not even going to try and justify,
Thanks, i checked the injectors this morning, before i started the car, there is loads of fuel in the rail, i will have the petrol pump tested today and give feedback, it took quite some time this morning to get her started, cranked the battery flat,

It seems like this is a common problem with these Aveo's.

Does your wife's car not have a "check engine light" ?

I'm surprised it's not illuminated if you have a failed engine control sensor.

The few times i drive it i saw the check light came on periodically, just after the last service about 5 months ago, had it tested and no error was reported, i made nothing of it as the test showed no error.

Still not sorted, new petrol pump fitted too, something is cutting the power to the Petrol pump in the mornings, sounds silly i know. The tracking unit and alarm system is now being scrutinized.
