2007 Aveo died when pushing in clutch

I have an 2007 aveo and it died the other day. I was coming into town and as i was going around a curve, it started stuttering like i was under a very heavy load going up a hill. I pushed in the clutch to downshift and it just died. Al the fluids are good and it wasnt heating up or anything. Now it wont even turn over. Any ideas?

Do you mean it won't turn over or it won't start?

It was both a left curve then a right curve. Ive never had any issues with it before... And it wont even turn over. When you turn the key its like an electric humming kinda. I dont really know how to describe it.

The first thing that I would check is the battery and the battery cables. If you are satisfied that they are okay, the next thing to check is the starter and the solenoid. Hopefully, others on the forum have additional ideas.

Im pretty sure those are fine. But why would it start chugging and die when i pushed in the clutch? thats whats confusing me.

I am confused. How can you say that those items are fine if the engine will not turn over? What did you do to check them?

After a visual inspection. I know the battery is good, its reading 11.6 volts. The battery cables are all tightly connected and not corroded at all. The starter is what ill have checked.

11.6V is very low for a fully charged 12V battery. Resting voltage should be around 12.7V.

A battery can look brand new visually and still be shot. Take it to a parts store or shop that has a tester, and let them run the full barage. This can take up to an hour or more, but it is the best way to find out the real condition of the battery.

I will think of a better signature later.
