      2011 1.6l water pump replacement

      Hey guys,

I have been trying to get my 2011 Aveo back on the road for 6 months. I hope you can help.

I just need to finish replacing the waterpump and I think I can get back on the road.

I have everything torn down, I got the serpentine belt off, the I hit a snag. There is a second belt from the water pump to the ac conpressor and i have no odea how to remove it. The belt does not appear to be under tension.

Once that is off, I cant seem to find a set or torx 40 sockets small enough to get the pully off of the water pump to remove it.

      Please help!!!

I have to look in the manual tomorrow. In those situations, the AC compresses should be tensioner. Look for an bolt that sets the tension.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

I don't believe that is the AC compressor, that should be your power steering pump on the second belt. Unless there was a radical redesign of the Ecotec layout, the AC compressor hangs near the bottom of the engine.

Also, the factory manual method of removing that belt is to use a large flathead screwdriver or small prybar to "encourage" the belt to walk off while rotating it. Reinstallation involves using zip ties through the power steering pulley holes to encourage it to walk back on while rotating it back and forth.

Yeah I didnt have the manual, it was just next to hard lines. I ended up replacing the water pump and everything is fine now.
