Hey guys. I'm new here so I'm sorry if I am not clear with this.
I bought my 2011 Aveo about a year ago and had no issues with it for awhile. However, for the past few months, the car has been acting very weird.
The car drives fairly normally until it has been running for 10-20 minutes. After this period of time, accelerating from a stop through about 10 mph is very jerky. You can feel the car kinda jerk as it accelerates. Then, from 20-40 mph, the car will shift gears and as soon as it hits a new gear, the car bogs down. By this, I mean that no matter how hard I press the pedal, there is very little acceleration and the Tachometer doesn't move at all. This generally happens at 2,000 RPM. After a few seconds of this loss of power, the car will start accelerating, but in "surges". You can see the RPM bounce a little bit and you can feel the car surge repeatedly.
I took the car to a mechanic in January and he replaced the spark plugs. The car only has 48k miles. The problem continued, so I took it to a dealer. Their computer diagnostic turned up absolutely nothing, so they just send me on my way.
I'm at my wits end right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, guys.
