      AC blowing warm air

Hey, looking for some direction, please.

I Have a 2009 Chevy Aveo, And the air conditioning is blowing out warm. When the car is running and you turn on the air-conditioning I hear the clutch engage, but no cooling occurs.

i also notes that the cooling fan does not turn on. I tested the fan and it works (I jumpered the relay connections and it started up). I know I had issues with the AC in my wife’s car when her cooling fan went out.

Basically! Looking for some understanding of how the AC works, what needs to engage etc.

since the clutch engages, I assume there is enough Freon in the system, yes?

does the thermostat temperature switch control the cooling fan via the ECM?

before taking the car to have the AC pressures checked and such, I am trying to make sure I troubleshoot what I can prior to spending the money to take it in.

      Appreciate any input.

      Thanks.

When low on refrigerant, it’s possible for the compressor to click. It may not be staying engaged. Use a mirror to check. If the A/C clutch just grabs, and let’s go, you’re probably just low on 143a. If the A/C clutch grabs and holds continuously, most likely you have issues elsewhere.

That's where the challenge comes in. It sounds like the compressor kicks on and stays on. It's not cycling, just running.

So is it possible that there is enough refrigerant to engage the clutch, but not enough to get the pressure up to the point where it starts to cool the air?

If the compressor is running, the vents would be at least cooler than ambient, if it’s a low refrigerant issue.

I have the same issue . I have freon , compressor engages. I noticed the radiator fan is NOT turning on .Will this cause the Ac to not work ? Im thinking the resistor is bad . Can this be by-passed and if so... will it cause any damage ? Thank You 4 any help !
