      Accessory Outlets

Tried to take the Aveo on a roadtrip today from Wheeling to Cleveland. Plugged the GPS into the cigarette lighter and no power there. Tried the accessory plug on the consul next to the e-brake and no power there either. Didn't have time to mess with it today. So we took the Trailblazer instead. Any idea what would cause both the outlets to not work?

Its not a problem with the GPS since it worked in the Trailblazer. Going to try to figure this out tomorrow, just need an idea where to look.

Its a 2006 Aveo LS auto with ~80,0000 miles.

      Thanks guys!

Did you check the fuses, or the plug of the GPS is not making contact in the aveo sockets.

We were short on time. What fuses are related to the outlets? Cigarette lighter didn't work either. Tried that to check and make sure the outlet was good. Pushed the GPS plug in and moved it around some to make sure it was in and connected.

First use a test meter to determine if you have 12 volts at the outlet. If you don't have a meter, find the original cigarette lighter and simply plug it in to see if it gets hot. If you get no meter reading (or the cig lighter doesn't get hot) check the fuse for it.

Don't be surprised if the plug to your accessory is not making a good contact. Typically that type of plug will work for a while but become worn in that it no longer makes a good connection.

Just wondering if you found the cause of this. My wife just called me and told me her cell phone charger is not working on either of the accessory outlets. I figure it's probably a fuse but if I could save some time troubleshooting when I get home tonight that would be nice. Thanks

99% sure it is a fuse, also the outlets get no power unless the car is on or running

yea, day after i got mine my cig lighter wasnt working either. Checked the fuse and figured out it was burnt(blown/w.e). Got the spare fuse there was and put it in and now it works again.

I dont know about the first gen but your fuse box will probably have a diagram of what all the fuses are. Just look for the cig/lighter one and replace it. And of course make sure you replace it with the right amp fuse

All the fuses in the fuse panel were fine. Any other suggestions?

I couldn't find anything on the fuse layout diagram that appeared to be directly related to the accessory outlet so I pulled all of the fuses and visually inspected them. Is it possible for the fuse to be bad without showing signs of being "blown"?
