Alarm lights going off but no sound

I just recently purchased a Chevy Kalos (UK aveo) and after I've locked the car a while later the indicators flash like the alarm is going off but there is no sound. Has anyone got any knowledge of this? It's happened 3 times now and I'm worried that it will run my battery flat if I don't notice it soon enough. A little googling came up with it might be something to do with locking the door too quickly and the system is not registering it??

I had a 2005 Aveo that had an alarm; It was connected the the vehicle's horn. I dont know which model year you have, but im assuming that it utilizes the vehicle's horn, and not a secondary horn, to make an audible alarm.

However, try replacing or swapping out your your horn relay as the first step. On my 2004 and 2005 Aveos, its located on the driver side (probably passenger side in the UK?) foot area, below the dash. Youll need to remove the trim piece that connects from underneath the door to just below the dash. (Ill PM you a link to a picture)

when you lock door but no sound it means that one or several doors or trunk or hood is still open. Check you hood maybe it's not fully closed. It also could be that door/hood/trunk sensor is broken (or wire or connector or fuse or relay).

My 2004 OEM had a separate "siren" for the alarm. It would chirp when I locked the doors... until it stopped working. Was a common thing back then, dunno what the fix was.

If the security indicator is flashing fast, there may be another system fault. I think its normal for it to flash slow when armed. Otherwise, as mentioned, there could be a door switch acting up. If you are not getting dome lights, it may be the hood switch (or whatever a US hood is called in the UK).
