automatic tranny slipping?
ok i got an 06 aveo with a auto with just over 23,000 miles on it. whenever getting on the on ramp to the highway it feels that the tranny slips then re-ingages around 2800 rpms to 5000 rpm and its getting more noticable. it use to just happen when i was cruising around 50 mph it felt like u were fluttering the gas pedal without touching it. anyone else have these symptons?? im gonna bring it to the dealership tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else may have had this happen.
thanks,
Mike
Re: automatic tranny slipping?
A good way to tell is to lock it in a gear (the higher the gear, the better. the clutch in my jetta would slip in 3nd and up, but not first and rarely 2nd before I changed it) and floor it all the way up to redline. If at any point the tachometer and speedometer seem to go out of synch (rpms skyrocket, but you don't accelerate accordingly), the torque converter isn't locking properly.
Re: automatic tranny slipping?
I would agree if the problem is easily repeatable and car is under warranty, take it to the dealer.
