Hey guys,

so this is my first thread and I am having a problem with my German 2008 Hatchback Aveo 1.2L (two doors). German key number 8260 ABL (it's used to look up all cars)

This is the compressor used:

kfzteile24 - Autoteile, Reifen und Zubehör

It's supposedly called Chevrolet-02-SP10-PV4 and OEM part numbers are CHEVR 96473633, 96473634. There are other numbers which supposedly fit to the same device but are used by other car makers.

Well, the problem is, that the bearing for the belt on the compressor broke. And supposedly, after that, the copper coupling inside the AC broke. It begun when the car started doing a strange sound (clicky, and a little CHRR like). My mechanic determined it's the bearing for the belt and he won't be able to replace the bearing only because that's fiddly and it might break in a few months again. So while he (and me) are on the lookout for a part, he put on a new belt between the engine and the dynamo because the belt was daisy chained between the engine, AC, dynamo and servo steering.... Something like that. He also told me not to buy replacement parts on the internet because "the internet can repair it, then"... Huh?

So basically, the bottom line is that I should get a new AC compressor.

This is the story how I perceived it (I am not knowledgable about cars, but I know a little bit about electric engineering... a little bit... and I am a IT technician... so I have a LITTLE bit of understanding about it)

Now I need hints on how to proceed. I can get a used AC from another Aveo for 130 €. I can get a new one from 350 € by a OEM (a certified parts maker?) too. I just need help on what path to take. My car works, but the AC is down now. The whole deal with the clicking prompted me to drive less, and it drowned the engine a few times, after one I let my car get pulled to the mechanic (it was free to pull it, no worries), when he changed the belt thingy.
