Buzzing noise

Hello folks. I need some help with my Aveo. It's a 2010 hatchback with 16,000 miles. It's made a barely noticeable buzzing noise when accelerating until recently. It is very loud now, and smells of antifreeze. I don't know what to begin looking for. Please help.

There are not any liquids I can see under the car after it's been parked. The oil doesn't look milky, but I'm still not sure if it's being burnt with the gas. The coolant level is lower than when I bought the car back in May, but is still a little over minimum when cool. Although, it still smells sweet like antifreeze after it's been running.

do you have a filmy substance on the inside of your windshield, or perhaps tap on the plastic heater box under the passenger side, sound like a hollow box or full?

when you first start the car does it blow any smoke? Any weird residue on the underside of the hood on the passenger side?

ever run hot, lose heat, or not hear the fans kick on?

There is an oil like substance on the inside of the windshield, and it's developed that several times since new. The car does have a little smoke in the morning (around 25F) for a minute or so, but pretty much stops afterwards. The Aveo heats up pretty quickly, but the temp needle never goes over halfway. I'll have to check the plastic heater box, the hood, and the engine fan in the morning.

At 25f, that's probably not smoke, just condensation.

I'm guessing that petrified is implying that your heater core is leaking, which the oily residue would indicate.

Take it to the dealer, it should be under warranty and should be an quick fix.

I found out what the problem was. The heat shield on the Cat was seriously loose and making a rattling/ buzzing noise from 2500 to 3000 RPM. The engine bay was getting so hot, it was cooking the coolant. Every time I stopped I could see the heat coming from under the hood. I tightened it up, and since then I haven't smelled coolant or heard the noise. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hmmm might be time to consider a new header and some wrap for it. . .
