A/C System will not accept freon after compressor change
Ok, this is not my first rodeo. I have done several A/C jobs in the past, this one was strange, but now is being problematic. I wanted to change the reciever/dryer while doing this job, but it is part of the condensor, and not worth $180, so I did not change it. However, the system I'm working was charged before the work, and every time I broke a line, I ensured to cover it to prevent moisture entering the system.
So anyways... after changing the compressor and the expansion valve, I put a pump on it, evacuated the system for about an hour, closed the system and left it overnight, it held a 29in/Hg vac overnight so I called it good and started to recharge. I started the car, turned the AC on and cracked the can. My gauges immediately shot to 100psi and remained that way. For some reason the system won't take freon. I thought maybe it was an issue with the pressure switch, so I jumped the relay to turn on the AC compressor and it did, I watched the clutch engage and start spinning, but it still did not take the freon. There's still a full can of R134a and 100psi on the gauges. I'm kind of at a loss right now as to whats happening??? why is the system not taking the freon?
Anyone who has worked on this strange air conditioning system, please help!
