Dear all,
I'm new to this forum and have a small problem that I'm unsure of what it could be.
I have a 2009 LT Manual transmission Aveo.
The car has around 37,500 Miles (60,000 KM) and has been running great and still does.
What it'd done recently (only a couple of times) after driving the car for about 100 miles (160 KM) at highway speeds (65 - 75 MPH) when parking the car for 10-15 minutes, and when trying to start the car again it won't start, you can hear the starter click, but, it won't turn over. I thought it was the battery, but the car has power (jump starting it made no difference). After letting it sit for about 30 more minutes, the car started normally.
The second time it did it, since the battery possibility was eliminated i thought maybe the inmovilizer was acting up on me, so to prove this we pushed the car and "gear started it", if it were this the car would not start, or start and immediately die, but it didn't, it started and we drove home with no issue, parked it for a few minutes and tried to start it, and it did, it has been starting with no problems ever since, we have not driven it for 100 miles lately.
I believe this could be the starter's solenoid.
Any thoughts?
I found that the solenoid part number is 10520191, the part costs an excess of 100 US and in Mexico an excess of 200 US, I would not like to buy it and have this not be the damaged part.
Your comments and suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Carlos
