Good Afternoon all and Happy New Year. The technician at local Pep Boys (not the substandard ones in Orlando) may have found the problem to my daughter's 2004 Chevy Aveo. For those not acquainted with the story, please review my previous posts.
And now, the rest of the story.....
As you may recall, the car has an intermittent stalling/hesitation problem. Replacing the spark plugs, ignition wires, and air intake tube failed to correct the problem. During the car's warm up period, a pop can be heard from the right rear of the vehicle. I inspected the EVAP canister along with the associated valves and hoses for any signs of wear or damage. With no obvious indications of damage, I surrendered to the inevitable and chose to have a specialist take a crack at diagnosing the problem.
Today I spoke with the technician who successfully reproduced the sound and the stalling. While the car was on the lift, the fuel tank appeared to constrict itself due to a large source of vacuum. I pictured the He then surmised that the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor could be at fault. Since this particular repair shop has always treated my family and I fairly, I trust their work and abilities to accurately diagnose and repair the car. Has anyone ever experienced something similar?
