a flashing light means misfire. this mean coil pack, wires or plugs most likely. after taking off the wire cover on the valve cover, start the car in the shade/dark and mist those parts with a spray bottle with water and look for sparks..

if no sparks youll need more tools. to verify each cylinder is firing, a scanner would probably narrow it down to which cylinder.
