I have a 2011 Chevy Aveo LT. 87000 miles.
At the beginning of the month, my check engine light came on. And I noticed that it was revving higher than normal when I pressed the gas. Idling was fine, it stays around 1000 when idling. I didn't have time to get it to a shop for about a week, and then, the light went off. (so I didn't take it in) About a week later, it came on again, for about 4 days, then it went off.
It's not on right now, but I still have revving issues. I will barely press the gas pedal and it revs up to 2500-3000. Once I get going (I do a lot of highway driving), it doesn't rev so high when the gas is pressed, but that's also probably because it's already at 3000 when I've doing my normal interstate driving. I really only notice the high revs when I'm going slow (like in traffic) and trying to increase speed.
Any suggestions? I'd rather not take it to the shop and spend a lot of money to fix it if it might be something simple to take care of.
Thanks!
